1. How Do I Learn to Use The Application?
Once you have installed the application and started the Equigraphics viewer, simply select the "Help" menu located at the top of the image viewer. This help menu lists each of the functions of the application and provides details of each option and function. It also explains about images and other relevant information related to Equigraphics.

2. Blank Image Viewer Screen.
The Equigraphics image viewer is built to always display the last image folder used when you last started the application. Therefore, immediately after the initial installation it will show a blank screen because it was never used before. To access and view the images, make sure you have the EquiGraphics CD inserted into your CD ROM drive, then select your CD ROM letter from the drive letter field in the Equigraphics viewer screen, then select the "equiplus" folder to bring up the clipart, photos and web folders that contain the images. Select any of the folders to bring up the images.

3. Cannot Locate Or Access The Images.
The following applies to version 2.1 or earlier. Although you installed EquiGraphics, the images are still only the CD. The only thing that installs on your computer during installation is the EquiGraphics image viewer. The "equiplus" folder on your C drive does not contain the images, therefore, you must always insert the CD to access the images each time you want to use the program. Once the CD is in your drive and you start the application, you must select your CD ROM drive letter from the drive letter field at the top left of the EquiGraphics viewer screen to access the images.

4. Cannot Insert Image Into A Document.
EquiGraphics images can be inserted into your document in two (2) ways, using the Windows clipboard "Copy" function, or the "Insert" function of the application document you are using. Copy Option: Once you identify an image for usage from within EquiGraphics, select it to bring it to full size. Next, click on it with your "Right" mouse button to bring up the "Options" panel. Select the "Copy" option by selecting it with your normal "Left" mouse button. This will copy the image to the Windows clipboard. Next, shut down the EquiGraphics application and open your destination document such as your word documents, etc.. Select the "Edit" menu, then select the "Paste" option to bring the image into your document. Insert Option: Once you identify an image for usage, make note of the image number. Open your destination document, go to the "Insert" menu at the top of your document, then select the "Image" and/or "Picture" option. When prompted, select the drive letter containing the EquiGraphics CD then select the "equiplus" folder to bring up the three (3) image folders; clipart, photos, and web. Double-click on the image folder you want, then scroll the list of file names to find the image you want to insert.

5. Computer Freezes When Trying To Use The Equigraphics CD
When using Equigraphics version 2.1 on some versions of Windows XP, you may experience freezing. This occurs because your version of Windows cannot shut down the auto-run feature in Equigraphics automatically. Typically, freezing will occur after you first install Equigraphics, or when you want to re-use it after installation. There are 4 different solutions to this issue and you may choose which ever best suits you best. There are (2) two ways to manually shut the auto-run and use the Cd without freezing, and there are (2) ways to by-pass it entirely when you want to use the CD. 1- If you are frozen after installation, simply select (press) three keys from your key board at the same time, they are: Control, Alt, and the Delete key. This will bring up a pop-up panel called "Windows Task Manager". Next select the "Processes" tab from the top of the panel, then from the list of applications that are running, find and select the "AutoRun.exe", then select the "End Process" button at the bottom right of the panel. You will then get a warning about shutting down the task, but shut it down anyway. This will unfreeze the screen and you can then begin using Equigraphics by going to the Programs option of the Start Menu. 2- Once you have installed the application, the quick way to by pass the auto-run feature when you want to re-use the application is to insert the CD into the drive then hold the shift key until the CD has stopped spinning (or when the CD light goes out). This temporarily disables the auto-run. You can then go to the "Start" menu, select Programs, then select Equigraphics to start the application. 3- Another way to avoid freezing is to log off Windows XP prior to inserting the CD into your drive. Once you are logged off (without shutting down your computer) simply insert the CD into your CD Rom drive. Once the CD has stopped spinning and the CD ROM light goes off, simply log on again. Once the user desk top has appeared again, go to the Start menu, select Programs, then select Equigraphics to start the application. 4- Long term, this is probably the best option for continued use. If you have a large enough hard drive, and space is not an issue, you can copy the images from the CD into the Equiplus folder in your C drive and access them directly from that folder, thereby eliminating the need to use the CD once installation has been made. FYI, the only thing that gets installed during the current way of installation is the image viewer. You then have to insert the CD in order to access the images, and on some XP systems this is where the freezing occurs. To avoid this entirely, once you have installed the image viewer, simply copy the contents of three image folders on your CD called "Clip-art", "Photos", and "Web" into the "Equiplus" folder on your C: drive. You can then access the images directly from within the C drive without the need for the CD and you avoid the freezing issue altogether.

6. How Do I Browse More Than 1 Image At A Time?
Once you are in your image folder of choice, you can view images in full size or thumbnail groups of 10 or 22 images. To set the thumbnail group option, go to the "Window" menu located at top left of the EquiGraphics viewer screen and make your selection. You navigate through the various image pages in the folders by selecting the "Previous" or "Next" buttons located at the bottom of the viewer screen.

7. Is EquiGraphics Mac Compatible?
Yes and No, as explained. The Equigraphics CD is made up of two components, The free standing images and the image viewer. The free standing images are PC Tiff images at 150 dpi at full size, but are large enough to scale down to 300 dpi easily. These can be opened with a Mac using Photoshop or some other graphics program. The image viewer is strictly a PC application that does not work on a Mac. Many Mac users purchase the CD and simply access and use the images using Photoshop or some other Mac graphics or photo editing application.

8. Missing "Shell.DLL" Error
The "Missing Shell.DLL" file error occurs when this system file is either missing or corrupt on your computer. On some computers, the manufacturers have erroneously neglected to include this system file. This is not an EquiGraphics file, but EquiGraphics does need it to install properly. Please go to the Tech Support start page and select Download Files, then download the Shell.dll file, then copy it into the following two sub-folders on your computer: C:\windows\system C:\windows\system32. If either or both of these two sub-folders do not exist on your computer, then go to your Local Disk C, select the Windows folder, then select File, then New, then Folder to create the folders. Once the folders have been created, please insure they have the correct names. System, (and) System32, and then place an instance or seperate copies of the shell.DLL file into both folders, then reboot your system and install EquiGraphics again.

To download, just click on the download option. You will then be prompted as to "Open" or "Save to Disk". Choose "Save to Disk". You will then be prompted where to pace the file. Some systems do not prompt, but you can change and/or select what folder to open. Scroll/select the "Windows" folder located on your C drive, then select the sub-folder, then click OK. Make absolutely sure it is downloaded or copied into the correct sub-folders otherwise Horseworks will still not install.
